Brainstorming session on “Metabolic disorder and uses of NER medicinal plants” organized – Le Sangai Express



IMPHAL, July 5.
A brainstorming and discussion on “Metabolic Disorder and Herbal Uses of NERs” at the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal today.
The program was organized by IBSD, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India to celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” with the participation of renowned scientists and experts in the field metabolic disorders, said a press release from the IBSD, Imphal.
Resource persons deliberated on metabolic disorders to enrich the knowledge and interest of IBSD students/researchers.
In his welcome address, Professor Pulok K Mukherjee, Director, highlighted various research initiatives taken by IBSD in the field of metabolic disorders to explore the rich bioresource of NER.
Dr. Niloo Srivastava, Scientist, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi, highlighted various aspects of botanical research and development to inspire young researchers to pursue their research work with enthusiasm.
The gathering was also addressed by Dr. Ravinder Goswami, Professor, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, emphasizing on the various unmet needs for metabolic disorders with special emphasis on diabetes and its clinical complications.
Other resource persons, experts and scientists also intervened on different topics related to the discussion and highlighted different aspects of drug discovery and development by exploring plant bioresources of NERs in metabolic disorders.
The program brought together more than 150 participants, the statement added.
