FG seeks medicinal plants for cancer treatment

The federal government has urged the Nigerian Natural Medicine Development Agency to find herbal medicines that can treat both prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women, saying the country is fortunate locally cure all kinds of diseases.

Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnya Onu, made the call in Abuja on Tuesday at the unveiling of a book titled ‘Healing Plants of Nigeria: Ethnomedicine and Therapeutic Application’ by the Rev. Anslem Adodo and Professor Maurice Iwu.

He said, “We can overcome and reduce the gap that exists between us and the developed countries of the world.

“I strongly believe that by understanding our herbs and plants, it opens up a wonderful opportunity for us to do just that.”
