National Farmers’ Meeting on Commercial Cultivation of Medicinal Plants and Organic Agriculture

National Farmers’ Meeting on Commercial Cultivation of Medicinal Plants and Organic Agriculture

Agriculture accounts for a significant portion of India’s gross output. Despite this, today’s agriculture is facing increasing difficulties. The negative impact of agriculture is visible in the degradation of soil fertility, food quality and food taste, among others, due to higher cultivation costs, lower production of traditional crops, synthetic fertilizers and herbicides, etc.

Organic cultivation of medicinal crops could be a boon to reduce these negative results. It has been identified as an important component of sustainable agriculture. However, there is a lack of awareness in India about commercial cultivation of medicinal plants and organic farming. It is assumed that farmers are not aware of the importance of this new option to increase farmers’ income.

This farmers meeting will be organized by the Indian Association of Organic Agricultural Producers – OFPAI in collaboration with the International Institute of Advanced Agricultural Skills Development – IIAASD. We cordially invite the farming community to attend this two-day event.
