The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand collaborative efforts aimed at promoting the production of quality planting material (QPM) of medicinal plants.

The MoU will facilitate the development of QPMs of medicinal plants and herbs identified by the NMPB and assist in the establishment of their nurseries for the development, promotion, conservation and cultivation of QPMs of appropriate medicinal plants in different areas. agro-climatic. CSIR-CIMAP Lucknow can also undertake research on mass multiplication, agro-technology development, generation of quality plant material of selected medicinal plants and herbs.

During the term of the MoU, the NMPB will work through its implementing agencies, namely the State Herbal Medicine Boards, State Horticulture Departments, Regional Facilitation Centers across the India in collaboration with CSIR-CIMAP Lucknow and will support projects related to QPM development of medicinal plants. species.

Under the Ministry of Ayush, the NMPB is mandated to coordinate all matters relating to medicinal plants and to support policies and programs for the development of trade, export, conservation and cultivation of medicinal plants. .
