Synthetic drugs are made in laboratories with mixtures of chemicals like in the case of medicines and the demand for these drugs is increasing rapidly with much higher profits in this illegal trade.

A survey reveals that opium is in high demand and abuse in the state of Haryana compared to other drugs supplied by the states of Rajasthan, Utter Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. While drugs like heroin and charas are in high demand in the states of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Utter Pradesh. Ganja is widely used in Haryana state especially in rural areas smuggled from various states including Utter Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha and Rajasthan.

The Narcotics Control Bureau headed by a senior IPS officer, Shrikant Jaghav, was established in Haryana State some time ago with the efforts of Home Minister Anil Vij when the state was became a drug hub in the North, which arrested a large number of drug traffickers and suppliers in the state. over the past year and seized huge stocks of drugs including opium, heroin, charas, ganja poppy shell, intoxicating tablets, capsules and injections of drug dealers. The state government took the decision to introduce a bulldozer program in Haryana and demolished a large number of illegally built industrial and commercial structures in the state with proceeds from the sale and smuggling of drugs by hard-line criminals and gangsters in order to completely eliminate drugs from the state. .

According to information from the Narcotics Control Bureau, nearly 460 cases have been recorded in the state in which 4683 drug traffickers, suppliers have been arrested. Shrikant Jaghav said Haryana State Police in the year 2022 up to November 8 recorded 3350 cases under the NDPS Act compared to 3975 cases recorded in the year 2021 in the State.

There are few drug smuggling cases reported recently in Haryana State in which the police managed to recover huge stocks of drugs, including one case in which the customs department during a raid in Guhla -Chika in Kaithal district seized nearly 6 kgs of heroin worth Rs 42 crore which was smuggled from Pakistan via Punjab, besides police also recovered cash amount worth Rs 42 crore Rs 33. 84,000. In another case, STF Gurugram team recovered a drug shipment at Rai in Sonipat district in which two drug dealers from Panipat carrying ganja in a gallop were arrested. The Hisar Narcotics Control Bureau team seized a huge drug stockpile being transported on the railway road in Jind. Similarly, Chandigarh Police recovered heroin worth over Rs 15 lakh a few days ago. Recently the Narcotics Control Bureau busted a gang in Palwal involved in providing injections while intoxicated with the arrest of two youths and recovered from them 4000 injections which were purchased by them at the rate of Rs 7 each and priced up to Rs 400 each injection.
